ASSIGNMENT This is the ARCAM (Architecture Centre Amsterdam). A beautiful modern building alongside the water, across the Maritime Museum in Amsterdam. Give it a new function and design/transform/style the whole venue.
I made it into a three-story gastronomic / hospitality venue, with:
OYSTER BAR on quay level | LOUNGE on ground floor | FINE DINING on floor level

The concept is 'OASE'. I wanted to create an oase in this very urban, industrial and grey part of Amsterdam; where one can sit back and enjoy the view form a warm and green 'buble' in a cold and grey environment.
The main element is the enormous vertical garden: stretching the entire lenght and hight of the building. It is maintained by a special designed irrigation system to water the plants at such hight. The wall can be seen throughout the top two floors.
The target group is the wealthier.

An impression of the building in collage-form. I'm intrigued by the flowing round vs. the pointy, geometrical lineplay. I wanted to keep that element in the design. I always want to design by following lines of the existing building, valuing it's architecture and history.
An impression of the interior, from quay level to floor level:
